Description
Apple Hazelnut Butter Galettes are a cozy autumn treat featuring thinly sliced apples and a rich hazelnut spread, all wrapped in a flaky crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup hazelnut spread
- 1 pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the apple slices with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss gently and let sit for about 10 minutes.
- On a floured surface, roll out the pie crust to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into four 6-inch circles.
- Spread a generous layer of hazelnut spread in the center of each circle, leaving a 1-inch border.
- Layer the marinated apple slices on top of the hazelnut spread, slightly overlapping them.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating as you go. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
- Arrange the galettes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For added sweetness, consider adding honey or maple syrup to the apple mixture.
- Experiment with different nut butters like almond or peanut butter for unique flavors.
