Description

A deliciously moist banana upside down cake that makes use of overripe bananas for a delightful dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar together, and spread it in the bottom of a greased cake pan.
  3. Arrange the banana slices on top of the butter and sugar mixture in the pan.
  4. In a large bowl, beat together the granulated sugar and egg until light and fluffy.
  5. Add in the milk and vanilla, mixing well.
  6. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  7. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  8. Pour the batter over the banana layer in the pan.
  9. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a plate.
