A delicious and easy-to-make Black Pepper Chicken with Mushrooms recipe that combines tender chicken, fresh vegetables, and a flavorful sauce.

- 500 g (1 lb) boneless chicken breast or thighs, sliced thin
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (white or cremini)
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper (optional), sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon black pepper (freshly cracked)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon oil (vegetable or sesame)
- Green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine chicken slices with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and half the black pepper. Let sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook until browned and nearly cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic, onion, mushrooms, and bell pepper. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until veggies are tender.
- Return the chicken to the skillet. Add remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, and rest of the black pepper. Mix well.
- Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken and mushrooms.
- Garnish with green onions if desired. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, add more black pepper or some chili flakes.
- This recipe can be easily doubled for larger servings.
- Feel free to substitute the vegetables based on your preference.
