Description
A delicious twist on classic comfort food, these Chicken Parmesan Sloppy Joes combine ground chicken with marinara sauce and cheeses, served on toasted buns.

- 2 chicken breasts, ground or finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped chicken and cook until browned, about 7-8 minutes.
- Add the onion and garlic, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes, until softened and fragrant.
- Stir in the marinara sauce, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly in the oven or on a skillet.
- Spoon the chicken mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Place the buns under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the broiler, garnish with fresh basil leaves, and top with the other half of the buns.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
- For a healthier option, use whole wheat buns.
- This recipe can be made with leftover rotisserie chicken for a quicker meal.
