Description

A delicious and moist chocolate banana bread that combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with rich chocolate flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, thoroughly mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • A small pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9×5-inch loaf pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed bananas with the melted butter until smooth.
  3. Incorporate the vanilla extract, baking soda, and a pinch of salt into the banana mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. Add the sugar and the beaten egg, mixing until fully integrated.
  5. Slowly fold in the flour and cocoa powder, being careful not to overwork the batter.
  6. If using, gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, ensuring the top is even.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the loaf cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before moving it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For added texture, consider mixing in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts or pecans.
  • To enhance the nutritional value, you can replace half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour.
