Description

This delicious Coffee and Cream Coffee Cake features a rich coffee flavor complemented by a creamy frosting.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon additional brewed coffee (for frosting)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the cooled coffee and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with sour cream until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For the frosting, beat together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and additional coffee until smooth.
  11. Once the cake is cooled, frost the top with the cream cheese frosting.
  12. Slice and serve.
