Ingredients

  • 14 oz (400 g) firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional)
  • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Drain the tofu and press it using paper towels or a tofu press for about 15 minutes. Cut into medium-sized cubes.
  2. Toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch until fully coated. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat, then fry the tofu until golden and crispy on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet (remove excess oil if needed), add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Add honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Let it bubble and thicken slightly over medium heat.
  4. Return the tofu to the pan and toss until evenly coated with the sauce.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve with steamed rice or veggies.

  • For a vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup.
