Description

A delicious twist on traditional baklava with a creamy custard filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the phyllo by layering sheets and brushing with melted butter.
  3. In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, and cook until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in eggs and vanilla.
  5. Spread custard mixture over the phyllo layers.
  6. Roll the phyllo tightly and place in the greased baking dish.
  7. Brush with remaining butter and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
  8. In a saucepan, combine honey and cinnamon; bring to a boil.
  9. Pour over the baked roll and let it soak.
  10. Cool, slice, and serve.

Notes

  • For best results, let the roll sit for a few hours before serving.
