A delicious twist on traditional baklava with a creamy custard filling.
Ingredients

- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the phyllo by layering sheets and brushing with melted butter.
- In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, and cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in eggs and vanilla.
- Spread custard mixture over the phyllo layers.
- Roll the phyllo tightly and place in the greased baking dish.
- Brush with remaining butter and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden.
- In a saucepan, combine honey and cinnamon; bring to a boil.
- Pour over the baked roll and let it soak.
- Cool, slice, and serve.
Notes
- For best results, let the roll sit for a few hours before serving.
- Can be served warm or at room temperature.
