Description
A traditional Czech dish featuring tender beef cooked in a creamy sauce served with fluffy dumplings.
Ingredients

- 2 pounds beef chuck, diced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 batch dumplings
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the oil over medium-high heat and brown the beef cubes on all sides.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot; sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Sprinkle flour and paprika over the meat and stir to combine.
- Add the beef broth, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook until the beef is tender, about 1.5 hours.
- In a separate bowl, mix the sour cream with some hot sauce from the pot, then stir into the pot. Allow to heat through without boiling.
- Prepare the dumplings as instructed, and serve alongside the beef and creamy sauce.
Notes
- Serve with fresh parsley for garnish.
- This dish pairs well with a side of pickles or sauerkraut.
