Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare a 9×9-inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the softened butter with both sugars and beat until light and airy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt until well blended.
  5. Gradually incorporate the flour into the mixture, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  6. Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk until evenly mixed.
  7. Transfer the cookie dough into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center feels firm.
  9. Let the bars cool in the pan for about half an hour.
  10. Lift them out using the parchment paper and allow to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into squares.

Notes

  • For variation, mix in 1/2 cup of chopped nuts.
  • Swap mini chocolate chips for white chocolate or butterscotch chips.
  • A drizzle of melted chocolate over the cooled bars adds extra decadence.
