Description

A delightful and festive hot chocolate infused with gingerbread spices, perfect for warming up during the cold season.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • Gingerbread cookies for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the mixture is warm but not boiling.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. Gradually add the dry mixture to the warm milk and cream, whisking continuously until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Stir in the molasses and vanilla extract, continuing to heat until the hot chocolate is steaming. Do not let it boil.
  5. Remove from heat and pour into mugs. Top with mini marshmallows and whipped cream if desired.
  6. Garnish with gingerbread cookies for an extra festive touch.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with chocolate milk.
  • Add a splash of peppermint extract for a minty twist on the classic gingerbread flavor.
