- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
- Whipped cream for topping (optional)
- Gingerbread cookies for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the mixture is warm but not boiling.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the warm milk and cream, whisking continuously until fully combined and smooth.
- Stir in the molasses and vanilla extract, continuing to heat until the hot chocolate is steaming. Do not let it boil.
- Remove from heat and pour into mugs. Top with mini marshmallows and whipped cream if desired.
- Garnish with gingerbread cookies for an extra festive touch.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, substitute half of the milk with chocolate milk.
- Add a splash of peppermint extract for a minty twist on the classic gingerbread flavor.
