Description

A delicious blend of pasta, ground meat, and rich tomato sauce, topped with cheese and baked to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound penne pasta
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the pasta according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened.
  5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and mix well.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute beef with lentils or a meat alternative.
