- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound penne pasta
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and mix well.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- This dish can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator.
- For a vegetarian option, substitute beef with lentils or a meat alternative.
