A delightful and easy-to-make Hawaiian Sweet Roll French Toast Bake, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (12-count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls, cut into quarters
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- Powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh fruit for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place the quartered Hawaiian rolls evenly in the dish.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the rolls. Gently press down to help the bread absorb the liquid. Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until golden and set in the center. The top should be slightly crisp.
- Let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup or fruit if desired.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of coconut milk.
- This dish can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
- Feel free to add nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture.
