Description

A delicious and festive Japanese Black Sesame Halloween Cheesecake that combines rich flavors with a spooky twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup black sesame paste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Food coloring (optional, for Halloween theme)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan to form the crust.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and let cool.
  5. In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  6. Add the sour cream and ½ cup of sugar, and mix until well combined.
  7. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  8. Stir in the black sesame paste, vanilla extract, and flour until smooth.
  9. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to achieve a Halloween theme.
  10. Pour the cheesecake batter over the cooled crust in the springform pan.
  11. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is slightly jiggly.
  12. Turn off the oven and leave the cheesecake inside for an additional hour to cool gradually.
  13. Remove the cheesecake from the oven and let it cool to room temperature.
  14. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
  15. Before serving, sprinkle the top with black sesame seeds for garnish.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a tablespoon of matcha powder to the batter.
  • For a festive touch, use Halloween-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the cheesecake once it’s set, and place them on top for decoration.
