Description

Kataifi Portokalopita is a delightful Greek dessert made with shredded phyllo dough, a sweet orange syrup, and a light, fluffy filling.


Ingredients

  • 1 package kataifi pastry
  • 500 grams ricotta cheese
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 100 grams melted butter


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Prepare the kataifi pastry by loosening it with your fingers and lightly grease with melted butter.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, orange juice, and lemon juice.
  4. Spread half of the kataifi in a baking dish, layer the filling, and top with the remaining kataifi.
  5. Drizzle melted butter on top and bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
  6. While baking, prepare the syrup by boiling sugar and water until dissolved, then adding orange juice.
  7. Once the dessert is baked, pour the syrup over it while hot and let it soak.
