Description

Kovalam Matar is a delightful dish made with green peas and spices, originating from Indian cuisine.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups green peas
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 cup water
  • salt to taste


Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt; cook until tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add green peas and mix well.
  6. Pour in water and simmer until peas are cooked through.
  7. Finish with garam masala and serve hot.
