Description
Deliciously spiced spinach and onion filling wrapped in flaky pastry, Lebanese Spinach Pies are a popular Middle Eastern snack or appetizer.
Ingredients

- 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 package phyllo dough
- 1/2 cup water, for sealing
Instructions
- In a pan, heat olive oil and sauté the onions until translucent.
- Add spinach, salt, pepper, and cinnamon; cook until wilted.
- Stir in lemon juice and remove from heat.
- Lay out phyllo dough, brushing each layer with olive oil.
- Cut phyllo into strips and place a spoonful of filling at one end.
- Fold over to form triangles and seal with water.
- Bake in preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.
Notes
- Make sure to cover phyllo dough with a damp cloth while working to prevent it from drying out.
- These pies can be frozen before baking; just add extra time when baking from frozen.
