Description

Delicious Maltese pastries filled with creamy ricotta cheese, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 500 grams ricotta cheese
  • 200 grams powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 250 grams puff pastry
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • pinch of cinnamon


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  4. Place a spoonful of the ricotta mixture in the center of each circle.
  5. Fold the pastry over to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges.
  6. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • These pastries can be served warm or at room temperature.
  • For added flavor, you can mix in some lemon zest with the ricotta.
