Description
A flavorful and healthy recipe for Maple-Infused Southwestern Salmon, perfect for a quick meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
- Juice of 1 lime
- Chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Begin by heating your grill or oven to 400°F. If grilling, lightly grease the grates to avoid sticking.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the maple syrup, olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, smoked paprika, lime juice, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- Arrange the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the maple mixture over them, ensuring each piece is thoroughly coated. Allow to marinate for a minimum of 15 minutes.
- For grilling, place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the preheated grill and cook for approximately 5-7 minutes on each side, or until tender and flakes easily with a fork. For baking, set the fillets on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until fully cooked.
- After cooking, let the salmon rest for a few minutes. Top with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
Notes
- For an extra layer of heat, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
- Pair with quinoa or a vibrant salad for a well-rounded meal.
