Description
A delicious dessert bar made with layers of shortbread, caramel, and chocolate.
Ingredients

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2/3 cup light brown sugar
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the flour and mix until combined.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly golden.
- In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, and butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until caramel forms.
- Pour the caramel mixture over the baked shortbread and let it cool.
- Melt the chocolate chips and add vanilla extract.
- Spread the chocolate over the cooled caramel layer.
- Chill until set, then cut into squares.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate instead of semisweet.
- Make sure to let the layers cool properly before adding the next one.
