Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Pickles (for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (for the sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Place the chicken breasts in the mixture and marinate for at least 1 hour.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Dredge the marinated chicken breasts in the seasoned flour mixture, coating them well.
  5. Fry the chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oil and set aside.
  6. Toast the buns and spread a little bit of the melted butter and hot sauce mixture on each bun.
  7. Place the fried chicken on the buns and top with pickles. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after frying for better texture.
  • Feel free to add your favorite toppings to the sandwich.
