- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 4 hamburger buns
- Pickles (for garnish)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce (for the sauce)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the buttermilk and hot sauce. Place the chicken breasts in the mixture and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Dredge the marinated chicken breasts in the seasoned flour mixture, coating them well.
- Fry the chicken breasts for 4-5 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oil and set aside.
- Toast the buns and spread a little bit of the melted butter and hot sauce mixture on each bun.
- Place the fried chicken on the buns and top with pickles. Serve hot.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes after frying for better texture.
