Description

A flavorful Pakistani dish featuring spiced rice combined with tender meat and a creamy yogurt sauce.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 500 grams mixed meat (beef or chicken)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. Wash the basmati rice and soak in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large pot and sauté onions until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic, ginger, and green chilies, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the tomatoes and cook until soft.
  5. Add mixed meat, followed by cumin seeds, coriander powder, turmeric, and salt. Cook until the meat is browned.
  6. Mix in the yogurt and cook until well combined.
  7. Add soaked rice and water, bring to a boil.
  8. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and let it cook for 20-25 minutes or until rice is tender.
  9. Sprinkle garam masala before serving.
