Description

Delicious Peking Chicken Lettuce Wraps that are easy to make and perfect for a healthy meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
  • 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground chicken. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chopped water chestnuts. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the sliced green onions.
  6. To serve, spoon the chicken mixture into the lettuce leaves and garnish with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • For added crunch, include shredded carrots or diced bell peppers in the chicken mixture.
  • Substitute ground turkey or tofu for a different protein option.
