Description
A traditional Swedish dessert known for its layers of sponge cake, whipped cream, and marzipan.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 batch marzipan
- food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour the cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add butter, milk, and vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool the cakes before removing them from the pans.
- Whip the cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Layer the cakes with whipped cream in between and cover the entire cake with cream.
- Roll out marzipan and cover the cake, smoothing it out.
- Decorate with food coloring as desired.
Notes
- The cake can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Ensure to keep the cake covered to maintain freshness.
