Description

A cozy fall recipe for spiced apple cider donuts that are crispy and perfect for autumn.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt, whisking until mixed.
  3. In a separate bowl, blend the apple cider, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually incorporate the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into a piping bag or zip-top bag and fill each cavity of the donut pan about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake the donuts for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While the donuts bake, prepare the cinnamon-sugar coating by mixing granulated sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
  8. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  9. While still warm, roll each donut in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated.
  10. Enjoy the donuts warm or at room temperature.
