Ingredients
Scale
- 500 g (1 lb) sirloin or flank steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Green onions or sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, season the steak bites with salt and pepper, and toss with cornstarch to lightly coat each piece.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add half the steak bites and sear for about 2–3 minutes per side until browned. Repeat with remaining meat. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil if needed. Add garlic (and ginger if using), and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add soy sauce and honey (or brown sugar). Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the steak bites to the pan and toss them in the sticky glaze until fully coated and heated through.
- Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot over rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the steak bites in the soy sauce and honey for 30 minutes before cooking.
- Adjust the sweetness by using more or less honey/brown sugar according to your taste.
