Description

A flavorful casserole combining chickpeas and yogurt, inspired by Syrian cuisine.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 2 cups plain yogurt
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions and garlic until soft.
  3. Add cooked chickpeas and spices, stirring well.
  4. In a baking dish, layer the chickpea mixture and yogurt.
  5. Top with fresh parsley and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Serve warm.

  • For a creamier texture, use full-fat yogurt.
