Description

Delicious Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, seasoned with a blend of spices and served hot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup sweet potato flour
  • 1/4 cup rice flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken, garlic, soy sauce, five spice powder, white pepper, and salt. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix sweet potato flour and rice flour.
  3. Coat marinated chicken pieces in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat the oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, let the coated chicken rest for 10 minutes before frying.
  • Serve with basil leaves for added flavor.
