Description

A rich and creamy traditional dessert with a delightful brandy butter sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound dried plums
  • 1 pound mixed dried fruits
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup suet, grated
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup brandy


Instructions

  1. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and brandy.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased pudding basin.
  5. Cover with parchment paper and steam for 6 hours.
  6. Let it cool, then refrigerate until ready to serve.
  7. For the brandy butter sauce, beat together butter, powdered sugar, and brandy until smooth.
  8. Serve slices of pudding warm with brandy butter sauce.
