Description

Delicious Yakitori Skewers with a zesty Citrus Ponzu Glaze, perfect for grilling enthusiasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 bamboo skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin (sweet rice wine)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the Citrus Ponzu Glaze until the sugar is dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the chicken pieces with vegetable oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Thread the chicken pieces onto the soaked bamboo skewers, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  5. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  6. Brush the skewers with the Citrus Ponzu Glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
  7. Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving.
  8. Drizzle any remaining glaze over the skewers for extra flavor.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute chicken with firm tofu or mushrooms.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, or green onions to the skewers for extra flavor and nutrition.
