This classic yellow layer cake is light and fluffy, perfectly complemented by rich chocolate frosting.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup milk
- 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with milk.
- Pour batter into the prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- For the frosting, mix cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and cream until smooth, then frost the cooled cake.
Notes

- Can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
