- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1 cup basil pesto
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Spread a layer of basil pesto over the pastry.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the pesto.
- Cut the second sheet of pastry into star shapes and arrange on top.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg and sprinkle with Parmesan, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Can be made ahead and baked right before serving.
- Substitute different cheeses if desired.
- Garnish with extra basil leaves for presentation.
