A rich and creamy green bean casserole made with beer and cheese for a delicious twist on the classic dish.

- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 1 cup beer (preferably a light lager)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 cup fried onion rings
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Trim the ends of the green beans and blanch them in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the beer, cream of mushroom soup, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the blanched green beans and half of the cheddar cheese to the mixture and stir to combine.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and fried onion rings.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add some cayenne pepper to the mixture.
- This dish pairs well with grilled meats.
