Description

A rich and creamy green bean casserole made with beer and cheese for a delicious twist on the classic dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 1 cup beer (preferably a light lager)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup fried onion rings
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Trim the ends of the green beans and blanch them in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the beer, cream of mushroom soup, soy sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the blanched green beans and half of the cheddar cheese to the mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  6. Top with the remaining cheddar cheese and fried onion rings.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add some cayenne pepper to the mixture.
