Description

A stunningly beautiful and delicious blue velvet cake that is perfect for any celebration.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon blue food coloring
  • ½ teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Slowly blend the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  5. Add baking soda, vinegar, and blue food coloring; mix until combined.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool completely in the pans before removing.
  9. Frost with cream cheese frosting once cooled.
