Description

A delightful treat, candied orange peel in syrup is perfect for snacking or using in desserts.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large oranges
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water


Instructions

  1. Wash the oranges thoroughly.
  2. Peel the oranges, removing as much of the white pith as possible.
  3. Cut the peels into strips.
  4. Boil the peels in water for about 15 minutes, drain, and repeat twice more to reduce bitterness.
  5. In a saucepan, combine sugar and 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  6. Add the orange peels to the syrup and simmer until the peels become translucent.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool in the syrup.
  8. Store in a jar with the syrup.

Notes

  • For a citrusy flavor, use organic oranges without pesticides.
  • Store in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
