- 1 cup pitted dates
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, soak the pitted dates in warm water for about 10 minutes until soft.
- Drain the dates and mash them with a fork.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cinnamon, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add melted butter, vanilla extract, and the mashed dates. Mix until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread a layer of additional cinnamon and sugar on top, then sprinkle with walnuts if using.
- Roll the dough tightly, then slice into rolls.
- Place rolls on a greased baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- These rolls are best served warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
