Description

Deliciously soft and fluffy matcha cinnamon rolls topped with cream cheese icing, perfect for a cozy morning treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, matcha powder, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, and egg.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and spread melted butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar over it.
  6. Roll the dough into a log and cut into equal pieces.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes.
  9. For the icing, beat together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth.
  10. Drizzle icing over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • For a unique flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg.
  • These rolls can be frozen before baking; just let them rise again after thawing.
