Description

Deliciously crispy chicken gizzard bites that make for a perfect snack or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken gizzards
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Start by soaking the chicken gizzards in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Toss the marinated gizzards in the seasoned flour until evenly coated.
  5. Fry the gizzards in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispy gizzards, double coat them by dipping back into the buttermilk and then the flour again before frying.
  • These bites pair well with ranch dressing or hot sauce.
