- 6 banana peppers
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Wash and slice the banana peppers in half lengthwise, removing seeds if desired.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk together.
- Dip each pepper half into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Fry the coated pepper halves in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot as a snack or appetizer.
