Description

Delicious crispy fried banana peppers perfect as a snack or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 6 banana peppers
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Oil for frying


Instructions

  1. Wash and slice the banana peppers in half lengthwise, removing seeds if desired.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and buttermilk together.
  4. Dip each pepper half into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the coated pepper halves in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot as a snack or appetizer.
