Description
Delicious Croatian peach cookies filled with a sweet apricot jam and shaped like peaches.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 cup apricot jam
- food coloring (optional, for the peach color)
- powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla and almond extracts.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
- Shape the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
- Place a small dollop of apricot jam in the center and fold the dough over, sealing it well.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden.
- Once cooled, you can color them with food coloring for a peach effect.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- These cookies can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container.
- Alter the flavor of the jam to your liking – other fruit jams work well too!
