- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- â…“ cup rice flour
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
- Add all-purpose flour and salt to the yeast mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix rice flour with enough water to create a thick paste. Spread this mixture on the top of the loaf.
- Let the loaf rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Brush with the egg wash and make slashes on the top if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

- Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
