Ingredients

- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 6 large egg yolks
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine the milk and cream over medium heat until hot, but not boiling.
- In a bowl, whisk together egg yolks and sugar until pale and smooth.
- Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla extract, and let cool.
Notes
- Custard can be served warm or chilled.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
