Description

A delicious and unique recipe combining fermented cabbage with rich lard roast.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head fermented cabbage
  • 2 pounds lard
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large roasting pan, combine the lard with salt, pepper, and minced garlic.
  3. Place the fermented cabbage on top of the lard in the roasting pan.
  4. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and roast for 2 hours.
  5. Remove the foil and roast for an additional 30 minutes to allow the top to crisp.
  6. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • The longer the cabbage ferments, the stronger the flavor will be.
  • This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes.
