Description

A delicious and easy recipe for Greek-style sheet pan biftekia and roasted potatoes, perfect for a Mediterranean-inspired meal.

Ingredients

  • Ground beef or lamb, 2 pounds
  • Breadcrumbs, 1 cup
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 cup
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, 1/4 cup
  • Garlic, minced, 2 cloves
  • Dried oregano, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt, 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon
  • Large egg, 1
  • Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Baby potatoes, halved, 2 pounds
  • Paprika, 1 teaspoon
  • Dried thyme, 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon, sliced, 1
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, and egg. Blend until cohesive.
  3. Shape the mixture into oval patties, about half an inch thick, and arrange them on one side of the sheet pan.
  4. In another bowl, coat the halved baby potatoes with olive oil, paprika, thyme, and a sprinkle of salt.
  5. Lay the seasoned potatoes on the opposite side of the sheet pan, cut sides facing down.
  6. Place lemon slices atop both the meat patties and potatoes.
  7. Slide the sheet pan into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the patties are cooked and the potatoes are golden and tender.
  8. Remove the pan from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Ensure the meat patties are evenly shaped for consistent cooking.
  • Adjust seasoning according to taste.
  • For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the potato mixture.
