A delicious and hearty steak and Guinness pie, perfect for a cozy dinner!
Ingredients

- 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup Guinness beer
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 ready-made pastry sheets
- 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the beef and brown it on all sides.
- Remove the beef and add the onion and carrots, cooking until softened.
- Stir in the tomato paste, thyme, salt, and pepper, and cook for a minute.
- Add the beef back into the pot along with the broth, Guinness, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 2 hours.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Once the meat mixture has thickened, roll out the pastry and line a pie dish. Fill with the meat mixture and cover with another layer of pastry.
- Make slits in the top for venting and brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- This pie can be made a day ahead and reheated in the oven.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or a side salad.
