- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
- Crackers for serving
Instructions
- Trim any fat from the beef heart and chop it finely.
- In a bowl, combine the chopped beef heart, horseradish, Dijon mustard, onion, capers, parsley, and lemon juice.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve with crackers on the side.
Notes
- This tartare is best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the fridge for a day.
- Ensure the beef heart is very fresh and from a reputable source.
