Description

A delicious Hungarian street food, Lángos is a deep-fried flatbread topped with a variety of ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Gradually add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the bowl and let it rise for about 1 hour in a warm place.
  5. Once risen, divide the dough into portions and flatten them into disks.
  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry each dough disk until golden brown on both sides.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Top with minced garlic and sour cream before serving.

Notes

  • Lángos can also be topped with grated cheese or other toppings.
  • For a vegan option, omit the sour cream and use plant-based toppings.
