Description

A delightful Polish dessert consisting of layers of cream between flaky pastry.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly. Slowly add cold water to form a dough.
  3. Divide the dough, roll out two rectangles, and place on greased baking sheets.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool completely.
  5. For the cream, heat the milk in a saucepan. In a bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, and egg yolks, then slowly add hot milk.
  6. Return the mixture to the saucepan, cooking until thick. Stir in vanilla.
  7. In a separate bowl, whip the cream with powdered sugar until peaks form.
  8. Layer one baked pastry with the cream, then top with the second pastry.
  9. Chill before serving.

  • For an extra touch, sprinkle cocoa powder on top before serving.
