- 2 pounds potatoes
- 1 pound ground meat (beef or pork)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup flour (for dusting)
- 1/4 cup butter (for serving)
Instructions
- Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash them.
- In a skillet, cook the onions until golden brown, then add the ground meat, cooking until it is browned. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Mix the mashed potatoes with the egg and flour until a dough forms.
- Take a portion of the potato dough, flatten it, and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center.
- Fold the dough over the filling to form a dumpling and seal the edges.
- Boil the dumplings in salted water until they float to the top, then cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve hot, topped with melted butter.
Notes
- Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices in the meat filling.
- You can use leftover meat or even cheese for the filling.
- For a crispy texture, sauté the boiled dumplings in butter before serving.
