Description

A flavorful mackerel dish prepared with a blend of spices and preserved in animal fat for a rich taste.


Ingredients

  • 4 mackerel fillets
  • 1 cup animal fat
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 cup water


Instructions

  1. Heat the animal fat in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the onions and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  3. In a bowl, combine vinegar, bay leaf, black peppercorns, paprika, salt, and water.
  4. Add the mackerel fillets to the skillet and pour the vinegar mixture over them.
  5. Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to a container.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
