- 4 mackerel fillets
- 1 cup animal fat
- 2 onions, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 bay leaf

- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Heat the animal fat in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onions and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
- In a bowl, combine vinegar, bay leaf, black peppercorns, paprika, salt, and water.
- Add the mackerel fillets to the skillet and pour the vinegar mixture over them.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to a container.
- Refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
